Nantes Bars & Cafes
By KATH September 19 2007
England fans move onto Nantes for the next painful round of the 2007 Rugby World Cup and I thought we had better look at a few bars in order that we can either celebrate or drown our sorrows. If you find any good bars let us know please and we will put them up on here.

Bars and Cafes Nantes

Nantes’ bars and pubs are mainly concentrated around the place du Pilori, place Graslin and place du Commerce.

Webb Ellis (and Co) café
webbellisA rugby stronghold located two streets west of Place du Commerce, owned by Ludovic Mocard. The bar is decorated with flags, souvenirs and relics from around the world collected over the past 15 years. Ludovic proudly serves products from all countries represented in his rugby memorabilia : beer from Wales, whiskies from Canada, wines from Argentina and South Africa.
The staff is planning a multitude of events around Rugby World Cup 2007 together with Nantes town hall. They are also planning to extend his opening hours during the tournament and to install big screen inside and outside the pub.Web site : www.webbellis.eu

Cheers Kath - most helpful indeed as we're staying in Rennes so not much exploring time whilst in Nantes.

They have one of those bars based on different rooms in a house in Ferrand too.

Anyone on here going this weekend?

The apartment
1, Street Gresset , 44000 Nantes
Such: 02 40 73 11 51
Description:
In the line of the lounge connected bars, the Apartment makes us penetrate in a universe very cosy and cordial lit by soft filtered lights. Installed in a superb decoration very ethnic (mixing Africa and Asia with harmony), one sirote cocktails or teas on musical bottom of the DJ Jee One. Drink and stones contribute to make of this place an alleviating place and charmer.

hmmm don't think it was this one?

found it and its website here

The House Coffee
4, Street Lebrun , 44000 Nantes
Such: 02 40 37 04 12

Description:

Take glass in the bath-tub

One feels at home in this organized bar as a true house (is delirious it moreover) with settees, armchairs and table out of orange Formica in an environment very seventies… One can taste there one of the cocktails house in the kitchen or sitted in the bath-tub of the bathroom. A terrace also makes it possible to take the air, in summer as in winter: it is heated. But at the House, one is not pantouflards for as much: a terminal Internet makes it possible to open in the world. One of the most insane concepts of the city.

Re: Nantes Bars & Cafes
I spent some time in Nantes during the early 90's. There was a bar there called le Arms Park Bar that served Brains and other British beers. I felt quite at home there and the bar owner was a top bloke. I do believe that there was an English theme pub called the White Hart also.
