Invest in a Hooker!

A Rugby Hooker that is, plus club.   Most of us are rugby fans and support one club or another but have you ever thought of sponsoring a Rugby Club as part of a group of like minded fans?

This is the innovative concept set out by Our Rugby Club.   On speaking to James Hutchison, co-founder of Our Rugby Club, he told me about this new venture for fans.   "Our Rugby Club does not seek to purchase a club and employ members - merely to invest in the existing infrastructure of a club to help it develop.  The key benefit is that the money can be put to good use, rather than having to spend it on ground rental fees and administration.."

Set out below is the full project idea and already interested are Cambridge RUFC  ...........  you never know this idea could appeal to your local club.

Introducing Our Rugby Club
Our Rugby Club is giving rugby fans the chance to catapult a small rugby club to the dizzy heights of the Premiership.

By bringing together a community of like-minded rugby supporters and by pooling  our financial resources, Our Rugby Club will make a significant investment to a club which can then purchase state of the art training equipment, attract new players and coaches and provide everything required to transform the club and move up through the leagues.

Our Rugby Club members will pay an annual subscription of £30, every penny of which will be invested in the partner club. With a target number of 10,000 members, Our Rugby Club will be able to offer £300,000 per year.

In return, members will be offered a number of benefits which will be agreed with the partner club. These could include discounted match tickets, opportunities to
meet players and coaches, competitions to win International tickets and maybe even the opportunity to participate in a trial match for the club. These will be
supplemented by online forums where club members can share views on performance, selection, tactics and other club matters.

The lucky club has not yet been decided, although many have expressed an interest. Whilst negotiations continue, people are currently being invited to register their
interest in becoming a member, and once enough people have been brought together, they will be asked to pay their first annual subscription fee, which will
entitle them to vote on which club to invest in.

The exact nature of our potential relationship will need to be fully discussed and agreed in consultation with the chosen club. The aim is to invest in a club and make
it successful both on and off the pitch. Our Rugby Club is run by genuine rugby fans and will not be buying a stake in the partner club - the aim is to make a real success out of an existing club by investing our members' money and generating additional opportunities for the club to develop.

James Hutchison, also commented, "The internet allows us to bring together incredible collective expertise and financial resources, both of which will make a massive contribution to a small or medium-sized rugby club.   It's a fascinating project which will have a real impact on grass roots rugby."

Invest in a Hooker

International Rugby News becomes Official Magazine Partner to Our Rugby Club

Our Rugby Club and International Rugby News have entered into a strategic partnership, whereby the national publication has become the Official Magazine Partner to the exciting new rugby venture.

Both organisations have the interests of grass roots rugby at heart, and the support of International Rugby News will help Our Rugby Club to build an online community of rugby supporters, which will then invest in a club in the lower leagues.

Reaction to the Our Rugby Club proposals has been extremely positive, both from potential partner clubs and prospective members, and the key focus now is communicating the ideas to the rugby community.

Our Rugby Club co-founder, James Hutchison, commented, International Rugby News is an ideal partner for Our Rugby Club, since its coverage of rugby at all levels is second to none. Supporting rugby at the grass-roots level is at the heart of the Our Rugby Club project, and that is exactly what this magazine does brilliantly every month.

Danny Coyle, Deputy Editor of International Rugby News, added, We are delighted to be associated with Our Rugby Club. Grass roots rugby is the lifeblood of the game, which means a venture aimed at increasing participation and getting rugby folk involved in the running of their club is something we fully support. We are constantly looking for stories from the lower leagues that demonstrate the passion and commitment that exists for the game, and wholeheartedly hope Our Rugby Club can become a huge success story.

This may be a little naive, but aren't most people already part of a rugby club.
I don't mean a GP team although I follow Sale Sharks and am a STH.
The club that I call "My Club" (and who I've played for since 1973) plays in Euromanx South Lancashire and Cheshire Division 1. I play (only the 4thXV) as often as my creaking bones will allow and I'm there twice or three times per week.
Although this sounds like a good idea, I personally don't really need to be in another club.

Sounds good to me (and I signed up some time ago) but then again I actively support Cambridge RFC so any additional funds from this venture will hopefully benefit my club should we be chosen! (Sm100)smileys with beer
