Paul Hull will be back on England duty this month after being appointed England Saxons Assistant Coach. Formerly a Physical Training Instructor with the RAF (1985-95), Paul won four caps for England in 1994, having previously represented the RAF, Combined Services, England Colts, England B, England A (whom he captained on the 1995 tour to Fiji) and the Barbarians.

The former England full back will join Head Coach Stuart Lancaster ahead of the Saxons' first match against

Portugal at Edgeley Park, home of Sale Sharks,
on Friday, January 30
(kick off 8pm, live on live on Sky Sports 1).

"As a player, Paul was an exciting, free running full back and I'm delighted that he's able to join the England Saxons coaching team," said Lancaster.

"As well as a proven track record in nurturing young talent - he led Bristol's Under 21s to three successive premiership titles from 1999-2002 - Paul's got plenty of Premiership coaching experience, having worked with London Irish and Bristol Rugby.

"Paul has an exciting vision for the game and that's the way we want the Saxons to play."

Hull enthused, "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to work with the next generation of England players as well as the chance to renew my relationship with Stuart Lancaster.

"Stuart and I were both involved in the Academy system when it was first launched by England. He was with Leeds when I was with Bristol and we've come to know each other quite well over the past few years."

After taking on the Portuguese national side, the following week the Saxons travel to Dublin to face Ireland A at Donnybrook (Friday February 6, kick off 7.30pm).

Unbeaten in 10 matches since June 2006, Saxons is the final stepping stone to full England honours and fans will see some of the country's finest emerging talents hoping to follow in the footsteps of Delon Armitage and Danny Care, who commanded regular first team places in November's Investec Challenge series and Nick Kennedy, Topsy Ojo, Jordan Crane and Dylan Hartley, who have also been capped at Test level since shining for the Saxons last season.

Tickets for England Saxons match against Portugal (January 30) are available from www.salesharks.com and start from just £5 for adults.

Good news for England, but another nail in Bristol's coffin, I fear.
