The RFU and Premiership Rugby  agreed a range of measures to address the demands of the Rugby World Cup 2015 on the club season. Working together with the RFU, the clubs now have greater short term financial certainty during RWC 2015 when the start of the club season will be delayed.  More here... The RFU has  launched a strategy to take the game to 100,000 females across England. The recent success of the England Women at the World Cup in Paris, has given the grassroots an unprecedented boost, to an already fast growing game.    The strategy aims to grow the game to see 25,000 women and girls taking part in contact rugby by 2017, whilst expanding the reach of the game to attract more coaches, volunteers, officials, social players and fans.

FP_WomensWC_TrophyThe England Women’s rugby team  visited Downing Street following their success at the Women’s RWC last month in France.   The squad, Bill Beaumont (RFU Chairman), Ian Ritchie (RFU Chief Executive) and management staff from the women’s game were welcomed and congratulated by Prime Minister David Cameron and given a tour of his official residence and office.

England Rugby  launched a country wide tour of the Women’s World Cup trophy with a send off from Twickenham the Home of Rugby.

Three of England’s World Cup winners have decided to retire from International rugby. England flanker Margaret Alphonsi, second row Joanna McGilchrist and wing Katherine Merchant, who all starred in England’s 21-9 World Cup final victory over Canada, will all hang up their international rugby boots with immediate effect.
