England v Uruguay RWC 2015 -Match thougths

October 11 2015

England played their last Pool game of the RWC 2015 at Manchester City and went out on a Try Fest.

Rugby World Cup 2015

England 60 v 3 Uruguay

England played their last game in the Rugby World Cup 2015 at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.  Although Uruguay claimed first blood of a penalty and 3points, plus they fought really hard for Semi Professionals.  It was really all England in the end, 10 tries in all and a couple of hat tricks for Easter & Nowell.  If it had not been so heartbreaking it would have been fantastic.

However, they left England fans with a smile on their faces, something to cheer about and perhaps look forward to?  And yet why do I fear that the next few weeks some of the knives will be sabres.

Good luck to all of the players going back to their clubs and I hope they have a really good Premiership season.   As for the management and RFU well who knows it is a bit like the programme QI  - I will stick up my little think sign and say ' Nobody Knows'

As you say, it put a little smile back on our faces. Personally it was pleasing to see Nowell and Slade play finally and indeed play well. I think Slade and Joseph made a good partnership.
I like Danny Care at scrum half, he's energetic and very busy.
Putting it I to perspective, it was Uruguay but you still need to beat what's in front of you.
I think in the right hands, with the right management, there is a very decent team looking to get out. Some promising youngsters. I think the RFU need to think long and hard about where to go.
If it was me, I would use the six nations to play some of these young guys and accept we are not gonna win it. We need to build for the future, 2019 World Cup being the summit. English Rugby needs a damn good kick up the backside.
Now, onto the Premiership season....thankfully

Time for a pipe of Old Toby!

This game was as relevant to the RWC as Georgia vs Namibia was.
