Wales 16 v 21 England - England Fan's view on the match

Well we all expected a tough match but this one was 'Epic', a true Test Match!

RBS Six Nations 2017

Wales 16 v  21 England

I predicted it would be an on the 'edge of the seat' affair and blimey was it!  I can't remember how long it has been since I have been sitting watching a match and finding my body leaning towards the way the scrum was pushing.  To say that I was absorbed in this encounter was an understatement.  My nerves were wrecked, I was exhausted after the match, goodness knows how the players felt especially the Welsh who must have been devastated to lose that match in the last 4mins.

Some people are saying that the Welsh through the game away.... but did they? Did they really?  I don't think so!  I thought England never gave up and you know what they say, it is never over until it's over.   England took the opportunity when it was presented to them, Daly ran in the try and more importantly Farrell converted from out wide, putting the game out of reach.

Both the Welsh and English players deserve huge credit for stepping up their games and giving the fans a test match that they will talk about for a long time.   I thought Launchbury this week was immense, in fact all of the ball carriers kept running the yards and taking on the brutal crunching tackles.  For me Nathan Hughes was my man of the match he made 22 ball carries and 67 meters made.  Only Dan Biggar made more meters 70 in total.

England's Nathan Hughes is tackled by Wales Justin Tipuric (left)

According to the stats Wales had eight turnovers compared to England's two and each team had equally 50% possession throughout the game. England's line out and scrums were  100%.   So to my mind England definitely won that match but I do have to be honest......... as it got to 75 mins , I thought we would lose.

So thank you to the team for playing to the full 80mins, they never gave up.  Brilliant Match.
