Pre-season match Preview ~ Stourbridge Vs Bees

By Sarah Tunney
August 7 2004

After months of waiting, the 2004/2005 season is nearly here!!! This Saturday the Bees have their first of five pre-season friendly games against Stourbridge. Kick off 3pm at Stourton Park

This Saturday will be your first chance to see the Bees new signings in action as we travel across the Midlands to Stourbridge.

There should be a few familiar faces on Saturday as there may be a few ex beesí players in the Stourbridge pack. Ex Bees coaches Paul Williams and Dave Spenser moved to Stourbridge when Phil Maynard tuck up the role at the Bees.

Nathan Bressington, Gordie Houston, Paul Meadows, Simon Pettit, Adam Sturdy and Sam Viggers are all in the first team who may be facing their old club.

Beesí hooker Rob Merritt may also be facing his former club for the game. Before coming to the Bees, Merritt had the most consecutive appearances (48) for Stourbridge and was the only ever present player for the 2001/02 season. He also made the most appearances by a forward for the club with 175.

Check back here closer to the game for any new information about the game!

How to get there:

Stourton Park is on the A458, Bridgnorth Road, two miles west of Stourbridge town centre. You'll find the ground half a mile past the Forester Arms pub on the left

The capacity of the ground is 350 with 499 being seated and 3001 standing. There is a car park at the ground with 200 parking spaces. There are three bars in the club house, food is usually available - although not too sure with this being a pre-season game, will try to find out). The club shop is also open during match days but again will try to find confirmation for if it will be open Saturday.
