Operation Downplay has been in full swing at Billesley Common this week with any talking head to which one might care to listen claiming Saturday's match at Esher is ‘Just another game’. Just another game, eh? It appears therefore the club newsletter isn’t ‘on message’ as it exhorts its readers to make the trip to Surrey for what it describes as a season-defining fixture. One must hope the significance being transmitted behind closed doors conveys rather more urgency because if Moseley lose heavily at Molesey Road this weekend they will be out of the top eleven Championship places for the first time this season.
With nine matches to go they will be involved in the mother of all bun-fights with not only their league position at stake but their future central funding.
Victory of course would take them well clear of Mike Schmid’s resurgent outfit and would in all likelihood bring to an end a run of three games in which Esher have scored more than 40 points and registered a hat-trick of victories.
