Preston Grasshoppers 24 Nuneaton 50

Top-of-the-table Nuns needed a superb second-half showing to see off a stubborn Preston Grasshoppers. They were 6-0 down following two penalties from home fly-half Marcus Jackson, before Nuns winger Richard Johnson cut inside to score. Jackson put the Hoppers back ahead with a third penalty shortly before Mark Balshaw burrowed over for a home try. Before the break the Nuns drew level with a Gary Holmes try.

Hoppers started the second half well and were back ahead thanks to Jackson’s boot.

This seemed to kick the visitors into action and after Huw Thomas levelled matters with a penalty they never looked back.

Aaron Takarangi finished off a great move, Dan Hurst was the next to go over and the one-way traffic continued with Johnson’s second try. Jackson scored a consolation but in injury time Tim Douglas and Thomas scored for Nuns.
