A WEEK after winning the championship the Nuns claimed victory to send their visitors down in an enthralling encounter at Liberty Way. The hosts were ahead after only two minutes when Rob Cook jinked through to score a try converted by Rick Aley. On 11 minutes Cook scored by the posts following a great break from scrum-half Huw Thomas although Aley missed the conversion. On 17 minutes it was the visitors turn to go over for an unconverted try by Martin Lithgow.

They were level on 24 minutes after they broke from their own half for John Benson to score before adding the conversion himself.

Park were ahead on 38 minutes when Adam McKenzie scored an unconverted try in the corner.

The Nuns were ahead at the break when Micky Moore scored under the posts, which Aley converted.

Park were back ahead on 62 minutes when Benson was successful with a penalty.

Two minutes later, however, Cook went over for his hat-trick, converted by Aley, securing victory with an unconverted try from Will Cave.

Lithgow got a consolation try in the final minutes.

Nuneaton: tries Cook (3), Moore, Cave; conversions Aley (3)

Darlington: tries Lithgow (2), Benson; conversion Benson; penalty Benson.
