Harrogate 32 Broadstreet 20

BROADSTREET lost their unbeaten away record with a whimper as they crashed to a disappointing 32-20 loss at Harrogate. Street were aiming for their fourth successive away win, but left North Yorkshire with their tails between their legs following an unimpressive display in which they never really clicked into gear. Mike Aspinall opened the scoring with a converted try after five minutes when Harrogate turned over the ball, before Broadstreet got to grips with the hosts’ line-out, which consequently enabled Paul Hurst to crash over.

Greg Summers then edged the visitors ahead for the first time two minutes later, before Harrogate enjoyed a spot of good fortune when a long punt bounced kindly for Kyle Dench, whose try was converted by Aspinall.

Dan Richards’ boot gave Street a pathway back into the game, but any hopes of consolidation went up in smoke from the restart when Sam Bottomley kicked through and won a chase to the line, before Ed Smithers did exactly the same not long afterwards as Street crumbled.

And Danny Magee sealed the win when he crossed the line in the corner, before Street were awarded a late penalty try.
