For those hardy souls who made the choice to view the game at Priory Park instead of the more doubtful delights of football WAG spotting in the nearby Knutsford triangle were entertained with a 7 try thriller. Despite having a hatful of chances and scoring 3 tries Coventry were unable to get even a bonus point from this game with the turning point coming in the 68th minute, where Coventry were denied a possible penalty try. A further Macclesfield try and 2 late penalties sent the Coventry side home with nothing.

A game of Coventry being held up on the line at least 5 times, as well as 3 try scoring passes going astray, whether it was  white line fever, needing a cool head or having a permanently unsighted referee was open to debate.

Especially in the 2^nd half as Pearson and Daynes started finding large gaps in the home defence Coventry had more chances than in their last 2 games together. For their part Macclesfield did take their chances apart from their own spell of having 2 held up on the line.

It is now more imperative that Coventry put their last 3 games behind them and convert the chances they made in the last 2 games to turnover Rosslyn Park next Saturday.

For the record Coventry went behind in the 14^th min after a try by the livewire Charles Mulcrone. Worse was to follow 5 mins later as Ed Sayce went over.

The impressive Pearson made a series of breaks and it was finally left to Sam Herrington to score on 30 mins. A late home penalty made h/t score Macclesfield 17 Coventry 7.

The 2^nd half saw Coventry defend a series of 5 m scrums but on 48min capt Evan Stewart went over making it 24-7 to Macclesfield. Yet once again Coventry refused to die. Tries on 53 and 55mins to Seb Pearson and Dale Ager brought Coventry right back into game at Maccclesfield 24 Coventry 21,  despite another penalty kicked on 64min to the home side, Coventry looked the more likely to win the game.

On 68mins came the turning point as Herrington fed Daynes then onto Harris whose 50m dash came close to line, with only one defender and Daynes inside, the pass was knocked on by the only defender. Nothing was awarded to Coventry apart from a lineout and despite a succession of 5 m scrums and being held up on the line Coventry were unable to get their BP try. On 75min a loose Cov kick was gathered by impressive winger Josh Fowles whose weaving 50m run led to his try under the posts.

Coventry still went for their BP try but another series of 5m scrums came to nothing, and in injury time a Macclesfield penalty made the final score a flattering Macclesfield 37 Coventry 21.

Lee Audis converted all 3 tries, and Ross Winney; also had a 100% kicking record with 4 conversions and 3 penalties. 

Another exciting game from Coventry with this time plenty of chances but they really need to convert more of these chances into scores.

one of these days it will all come together and we'll paste somebody, lets hope its against R/Park this saturday !!

That's a very good report, epigoni, and laced with humour.
Despite the very negative comments from some posters, it seems Cov did play well in all areas except at the final push where it really matters (grounding the ball over the try line). It sounds like many teams would have not been able to withstand the pressure/onslaught, but Cov must start to finish moves with points on the board.
As hipflask says, let's hope the experience of the last three games results in RP being given a pasting this weekend.
