Phil Maynard praises 'gutsy performance' but regrets lost BP

PHIL Maynard praised his side for their resolve in Saturday’s victory over Stourbridge but admitted concern at another missed bonus point.

Cov raced into a 17-0 lead in the first quarter at Butts Park last weekend and had three tries on the board with more than half an hour remaining.

However, they were unable to grab what could be an all-important fourth as they allowed winless Stour to come back into the match and steal a point of their own.

Cov are one of just four teams yet to secure a try-bonus this season, a marked contrast to last term when they were one of the most incisive teams in National One.

They have replaced that cutting edge with a stoicism that has brought them victories over Cinderford and Stour but arguably not maximum value for their efforts.
