Luke Myring: Cov prepared to tackle winter rugby challenge.

AFTER turning back the clocks this weekend and the sudden change of weather last week, it became clear that winter is fast approaching.

With the pitches now getting heavier it is going to be key which teams can adapt to the changing conditions during the winter months and it makes you ask the question: “Are we prepared for winter rugby?”

In my eyes the answer is a definite “yes!“ In the recent weeks our forwards have performed brilliantly going from strength to strength. They have demonstrated real dominance against very good opposition and have created the platform for some hard fought wins.

I also think back to the away win at Sedgley Park earlier in the season which was played in terrible conditions. In the torrential rain, wind and mud we showed outstanding control and game management throughout, coming back from 12-0 down to win 12-18. Based on this and the fact that we are a well-conditioned squad with growing strength in depth, I am convinced that we will winter very nicely.

There were mixed feelings post-match on Saturday. It was another exciting game to watch and another great win for us, a win that keeps us moving up the table and keeps the momentum building.
