Glackin calls for response from Cov in NL 1 clash with B&S.

PETE Glackin has demanded an immediate response to last weekend’s disappointing National One defeat at Fylde when local rivals Bees come to the Butts Park Arena on Saturday.

The Coventry coach, who played for Birmingham & Solihull for four years at the start of the last decade, wants Cov to put memories of the 45-14 reverse behind them and embark on another unbeaten run.

That defeat at Woodlands, suffered without several important, experienced first-team regulars, snapped a three-game winning streak and meant Cov slipped back in the pursuit of National One leaders Ealing.

And although Glackin insists no-one at Butts Park is thinking about their league position, performances and results are upmost in their minds and the derby with lowly Bees represents an opportunity to get back to winning ways.

“We are very clear how we want to approach this game – we want to make massive amends for how we performed last Saturday,” Glackin said.

“At Fylde we did not do the fundamentals right in defence and that meant in attack the boys felt they did not have enough possession to work with.

“There is no hiding from the fact our defence was not good enough regardless of who was playing in what position.”

That said Cov will be hoping Luke Myring and Ben Russell pull through fitness tests this evening and make themselves available.
