Skipper Matt Tibbatts sets the tone for battling Coventry.

SKIPPER Matt Tibbatts led from the front after falling ill on the morning of the match as Coventry edged out derby rivals Birmingham & Solihull 26-25 to all but secure their place in National League One for next season.

The No.8, who has seen Cov go unbeaten in four games since given the captaincy, was outstanding for 50 minutes before forced to come off the field with Cov leading 23-12.

“Matt was sick all morning and we weren’t sure he would be able to play at all,” said rugby director Phil Maynard.

“To give the performance he did pays tremendous credit to his commitment and the overall spirit in the camp.
