YET another game that slipped through our fingers. Saturday’s game against Blaydon was always going to be tough as they are on a run of good form but I honestly thought at home we’d be the winners.

We have a reasonable record at home and with the disappointment of the Old Albanion game I thought we would do it.

We started the game well with patterns of play and some direct ball carrying. This was a massive positive as Blaydon were struggling to contain us when we retained possession, which wasn’t often enough, unfortunately.

Due to basic errors from us and some poor discipline we let them off the hook far too often and as a result where not able to turn territory into points.

That said, we did manage a penalty kick from Cliffe and a training pitch front peel try for “Penguin” Price and went in at half time 8-3 up.

Then came the second half, which seems somewhat a carbon copy of the Old Albanion’s performance. Why? I honestly don’t know but we get pinned back inside our own half and for whatever reason, whether it’s mistakes, discipline or decision making, we struggle to get any field position.

Blaydon then started to grow in confidence, with them dominating territory and possession it resulted in us being under large periods of pressure. They then went on to score two tries – one from a 5m driving lineout and another from a direct ball carry 10m off our line.
