Coventry Rugby have today announced that they have signed former Welsh International fly half Matt Jones from Championship side Bristol Rugby.

Matt aged 29, has a wealth of experience throughout the higher levels of the game. He started off his career for the Ospreys, was then selected for Wales U21, and in 2005 was selected for the senior Welsh squad earning his full cap against Canada.

Since then spells at Moseley, London Welsh, Worcester in 2008 followed. In season 2010 Matt signed for Welsh Regional side Newport Gwent Dragons making 33 appearances and scoring 160 points, playing there with the new Coventry Head Coach Scott Morgan. In January 2012 he transferred to Championship side Bristol as they looked to be promoted back to the Premiership, this was not to be and when released by Bristol, Matt decided to move to Coventry impressed with the new set up and being able to join up again with Scott Morgan.

Coventry’s Rugby Director Phil Maynard feels that this signing proves Coventry Rugby’s future intentions and the experience of Matt Jones will assist last season’s incumbent Will Maisey in his own development as a fly-half.
