The artificial surface at Kingston Park suited the Blues' style of play,  but in the end it was to favour England speedster Adam Radwan whose scorching try made the difference in a 26-16 Premiership Cup win for Newcastle Falcons.

Bedford were up for it and shaded the second half after going in 12-3 down at oranges. Sean French's penalties reduced the arrears and Blues went in front when Matt Worley took line-out ball to send Sean French over.

An "upset" was on the cards but it wasn't to be as De Chaves dived over from close range with Radwan then putting his side clear.

An excellent performance nevertheless from Blues and great preparation for the Championship season to come.
