Nuns promise to keep on fighting

NUNEATON face the daunting prospect of a trip to National Division Two leaders Otley tomorrow as they continue their own fight to climb out of the bottom three. Relegated from National One last season, Otley are the division's highest scorers and also boast the tightest defence, but Nuns made them work hard for their 38-21 win at Liberty Way in November - leading 21-3 at the end of the opening quarter - and were lifted by last week's 41-22 win over Halifax.

"We needed a five-point win, that was our challenge, and we got it," said coach Mike Umaga.

"There were a few things I wasn't happy with, but some of the stuff we did was encouraging and I was pleased with the outcome.

"We will go up there with the attitude that it is a game we can win, as we approach every game. It's important that when we get on the bus we are in the right frame of mind to go up there and get four points - there's no point if we don't have that on our minds.

"We have to test ourselves against the top, and with this group of players, one thing they love is a challenge. It has never been a question of effort, just a question of taking our opportunities when they come, and until someone tells us we are definitely relegated, we will keep on fighting."

Second row Matt Solomon picked up a knee injury against Halifax, but will be replaced by Ben Griffiths who returns after a month out with a back problem. Centre Simon Brocklehurst remains doubtful with a knee problem.
