Alcester 22 Wellesbourne 7

ALCESTER moved up to second place in the table with a far from comfortable win over their plucky visitors who had a territorial edge for long periods of the game. Playing up the slope in the first half, Alcester had to withstand some early pressure before flanker Mika Pieri intercepted and kicked ahead twice before touching down for the only score of the first half. Centre Max Biltcliffe added a penalty early in the second period, and with the slope and deceptively stiff breeze at their backs, Alcester began to gain some ascendancy.

Talismanic captain and scrum-half Scott Carmichael broke several tackles to cross between the posts, fly-half Ash Newdick converting, and after a Wellesbourne try in reply, Alcester sealed their win from the last move of the game when flanker Aaron Mason rounded off an incisive break, Newdick again converting.
