Stourbridge will need to pull out all the stops

Coach Neil Mitchell is well aware that Stourbridge could face a backlash after Redruth lost their unbeaten record to Cambridge last week. Mitchell said: “We usually have a pretty good record against Redruth, especially at home. “We beat them 34-0 at Stourton last season, but got trounced twice at their place. “There’s no doubt Redruth are a quality side with strength in depth and a spine of experience going through them.

“However, Redruth required a fourth-minute-of-injury-time try to beat Wharfedale, while we put 43 points past them so they are not insurmountable”.

Stour are without tight-head props Chris Rowlands and Jack Gilding.

Rowlands underwent an MRI scan this week on the fractured skull he sustained against Launceston, while Gilding, who is on loan from the Worcester Warriors’ Academy, has been hospitalised with a knee infection.

Second-row Simon Homer will be asked to step in again and Mitchell admitted: “It’s not ideal because your tight head is a keystone to set-piece play.

“However, we are a young side who I believe will rise to the incentive of playing the side at the top of the table.

“I’ve told them that they’ve got nothing to lose!’’
