Cov centre Luke Myring concentrating on returning to fitness

STRICKEN Coventry talisman Luke Myring says he is already focused on returning to fitness after suffering a serious injury in Saturday’s defeat to Wharfedale.
The experienced centre was stretchered from the pitch early in Cov’s 8-3 reverse after a visiting player collided with his standing leg in the act of kicking.
He spent yesterday receiving specialist advice and having an MRI scan in Northampton and the results should be available today.
The initial prognosis shows Myring has almost certainly dislocated his ankle but what is not yet clear is how much ligament and tendon damage he suffered.
The former Saints midfielder is hopeful that is minimal and that he can return to playing in a couple of months.
And even if the news is not so good he says he is determined to return to the Blue and White sooner rather than later.
“I am trying to be positive because if you dwell too much you just get stuck in one place,” the 27-year-old said.
“I am a bit frustrated because I had started the season and was playing so well then I got a niggle in my calf.
Take your time Luke. This season is almost a goner now (from the point of view of being in contention for the promotion spot). We just need you back to full fitness in plenty of time for the real issue of next season.
Kimbo/ LOL, you are both right about this season, we knew there were teams like Jersey coming in who have the money to progress quickly.
We all know we have to progress more slowly, the state of sport finances in this city is pathetic. Cov are doing all they can with links to Henley and Old Covents plus the new mini's set up.
It could be a long haul, but hopefully when we do get back up the whole of rugby in this city will be on a solid base.
I have to admit that Kimbo, LOL and covkid53 have said it all. It's clear that the Jerseys of this league are going to be pushing for the promotion spots and that, this season, Cov will be among the "best of the rest" teams, so it's crucial that Luke takes his time and gets things right for next season.
We're with you, Luke, and you have our support.
Whilst i echo the sentiments of the previous posters, the season is only halfway through and I would like to think that Cov will try their damnedest to upset the top teams whenn they visit the BPA! Realistically we are out of contention but teams behind us are improving week on week so we cannot afford to free-wheel to the end of the season. I would like to see Cov be at full strength when the likes of Jersey and Fylde visit us at home and try as hard as we can to de-rail their promotion hopes. If Jersey do get the promotion then Ealing & Fylde will still be about next year with a large pots of money, as will Rosslyn Park and others? I've read elsewhere people saying that money doesn't buy a team, true enough, but it's a whole lot easier attracting players and getting "good" players to play as a team than getting less talented players to be competitive, especially in this league.
Anyway all the best Luke here's hoping you have a strong recovery and get back to full fitness soon!
