Cov try machine Jeff Gregson nears reunion with wing partner

THE reunion Coventry supporters have waited all season to see has moved a step closer with the imminent return of winger Jeff Gregson.

The 22-year-old’s campaign has been blighted by a hamstring injury which delayed his start to the season by more than a month and then flared up again after just five games.

Indeed Gregson, who combined with wing partner Tommy Harris for 32 tries last season, has not played at all since early November when Cov lost to Fylde.

But after another spell on the sidelines the former Rugby Lions man is nearing a return having resumed training last week and taken part in his first contact session on Tuesday. And he is expecting to see some action in next week’s Nighthawks match with local rivals Moseley with a view to challenging for a first team place at the end of the month.

That comes at a good time for Coventry who have lost four straight games but were able to pick Harris, last term’s leading scorer, for the first time last Saturday.
