Cov centre Otutaha reveals excitement at Cov's homecoming.

COVENTRY centre James Otutaha believes his team’s super-charged victory over Fylde last Saturday was inspired by home comforts.

The New Zealander’s was one of several excellent performances which culminated in a handsome 39-26 win over the National One high fliers, in what was Cov’s first match at the Butts Park Arena for seven weeks.

Indeed, the midfielder was one of five players making their home debuts, three in a back-line that finally fired and produced the hosts’ first try bonus since November.

And for once they made a devastating start as they raced into a 22-0 lead in little more than a quarter of an hour, a fact Otutaha explains by the excitement of playing in front of their own supporters.

“We were really hyped on Thursday just because we knew we were playing at home,” he said. “And there was a real positive vibe in the changing room in the build up so when we came out on Saturday we were raring to go.

“I absolutely loved playing at Butts Park. It was better than even I expected. I didn’t really know the crowd was going to be so loud, they really got behind us then in the bar afterwards loads of people were coming up and thanking us and saying ‘Well played’. It really made me feel like part of the community.”
