Luke Myring boost for Coventry Rugby

Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that centre and goal kicker Luke Myring, has pledged himself to Coventry for a further 2 years.

Luke has showed his faith in Coventry Rugby’s serious commitment in their future ambitions, by signing a two year deal, with Coventry having to fight  off strong competition from other clubs.

Despite a season cut short by serious injury, Luke was still able to finish as Coventry’s second highest points scorer on 118. Inspirational both on and off the field, Luke was able to use his considerable experience, including a spell at Northampton Saints and in Italy to meld the young Coventry side into a prospective top 6 side, until not only his but other serious injuries to players curtailed the team’s progress.

This signing makes 10 already announced by Coventry Rugby, with further signings expected to be made public next week.

What fantastic news for Cov. our form certainly dipped when Luke suffered his horrific injury. If he can stay injury free this season, a top six place beckons.

That's a triumph of hope over expectation Tim, but he certainly is a good player, and it is good to retain him.

Well Roger, If my memory serves me correctly, we were about top five when Myring got injured and playing decent rugby. When Myring was missing, we lacked direction and leadership on the pitch. He was certainly pulling the strings regarding patterns of play and he was a strong voice on the pitch. no disrespecy to anybody, but we never reached those heights with Jack Green or Nat McDonald. Time will tell. COME ON COV!!!!!!!!!

Agreed Tim. In fact I made that very point last season when we were descending and he was injured. My point originally, was that although he is very a good player, still developing, his retention will not be enough to get us into the higher realms of the division.

Roger, shall we have a sporting bet of some sort? My top six as opposed to your doom and gloom forecast? maybe the winner gets a nice bottle of some kind at the end of the season? I await your reply. Oh, i like a nice Martell by the way. Can almost taste it now

Rather than cotton wool, protection by the referee from a player who hit him late after he had cleared to touch from on the dead ball line would have helped. The injury came directly from an opposing player choosing to take out his braced leg to save3 himself from running into the advertising line well after he had landed from clearing the ball.
