RUGBY director Phil Maynard was delighted by Coventry’s overall performance as they continued their winning start to the second half of the National League One programme with a 41-21 victory at Cambridge.

Bolstered by a fine display from young fly-half Will Maisey, Cov scored seven tries at Volac Park to take maximum points for the second successive game and climbed three places to eighth in a crowded mid-table.

“For 60 to 65 minutes we were very good and played some ruthless pattern rugby,” said Maynard.

“We have been working hard on it all season and we seem to have found a nice formula now for lads who can use the space we are creating.

“It was a good performance and the only dampener was in the last 20 minutes when we were reduced to 13 men for a spell because of technical offences.
