Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce two new signings to their squad. Matt Williams a hooker and Ed Tellwright a winger have already been selected as part of the squad for Saturday’s game against Tynedale and indeed both came on in the second half, with winger Ed Tellwright scoring a maiden try.
Matt Williams aged 21 comes in on a dual registered deal from Northampton Saints Academy. Born in East London, South Africa, Matt joined the Academy at the start of this season. He played for Natal Sharks U 21’s in the Curry Cup as a back row forward. However Northampton have converted him to a hooker and he has made tremendous strides in this new position. A strong mobile forward Matt looks very much to getting some game time and cementing his position in the Coventry side.
Ed Tellwright aged 24 and born in Bristol is a winger who played earlier in this season for Championship side Jersey where he had 5 starts scoring 1 try and 1 conversion.
Last season Ed also played for another Championship side Rotherham Titans where he had 13 starts scoring 2 tries. With his contract now ended at Jersey Ed has been looking at other opportunities and looks forward to getting some game time and gaining a regular place in the Coventry team.
