Every year he says he won't play and ever year he does, but will he in 2006? In true Ryder Cup fashion, Large inisists that he will be sitting out this year's tournament and won't contemplate any game time, even in a glory-hunting cameo in the semis or final. thesaracens.co.uk caught up with him.
Name: Jason Harris
Number: 20
Nickname: Large
Age: 36
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 21st 10 - a true fat boy
Playing position 7s/15s Prop/no8
Past Fat Blokes appearances: 2003,2004,2005
Who introduced you to the Knights? Been there since the beginning
Current club: None, I am very happily retired, thank you.
Former clubs: Too many to list but played a bit in Divs 1 and 2 in Wales and for Finchley and Fullerians in London. Also moonlighed for Oxford University U21s (I was 24 and played loose head becasue they were short)
Honours: County caps at school, tons of trophies at agegroup level thanks to a whole heap of talented teammates. Dark Blue and one appearance for Wales Students at Rugby League.
Job: Commercial Executive Mon-Fri, Z-list Rugby Commentator at weekends
Favourite Current Saracens player: Cobus Visagie
Favourite All-time Saracens player: Brian Davies - anyone who commutes from Barry to Southgate to play amateur rugby deserves a peerage.
Favourite All-time player in the World ever: Gareth Edwards
Boyhood rugby hero: Mervyn Davies
Favourite Food: Lobster. Wanna buy me some?
Favourite Drink: Champagne. Lots of it.
Why no 20 - Used to wear it a lot while I warmed the bench most weekends at Ystradgynlais and became attached to it. Wore it even if I got a rare start. Silly, huh?
Worst rugby injury: Thankfully nothing serios. A few concussions, twice broken nose, endless sprains and dislocations of right thumb and wedding ring finger.
Most embarrassing on-field moment: Was actually while fielding at cricket. A wasp flew up my trouser leg, making me do a rather bad impersonation of Micheal Jackson before I had to whip off my strides to get rid of the thing. Plus I got stung for my troubles. And people at Adams Park wonder why I don't support their club....
Most embarrassing off-field moment: Sadly, space does not permit for me to talk at length about ice buckets, green sweatres, going missing after home games, falling asleep on the last train to Swindon and waking up in Bristol, losing tickets for Barbarian games, trying to retrieve passports from under railway carriages, losing phone and oneself in Parma, spilling first pints of weekends in Belfast, having drinks poured over my head by Scottish second rows; the list goes on. And on. And on.
