The Arabian Knights will return for another crack at the 2008 CHP Consulting International Fat Bloke 7s at Reading Abbey on Saturday 19 July. After winning the Arse for the second time in 2007, the team is not going to rest on it and will be looking for new players and supporters to attend the tournament.
Once again the likes of Drunken Wasps, Jason's Leopards, Leeds Lardies, Worcester Wobblers, Bristol Pasty Eaters, Bath Tubs and, of course, the Flatulent Fairies will provide the opposition, while the Army Vets, Havant, CHP and lots of other young and/or fit teams will provide the hammerings.
One thing's for certain, though, and that is that win or lose, the tournament is going to be as much fun as it has been since its inception in 2003, when nine intrepid Sarries fans braved the 35 degree heat to wimp out of the last pool game due to having just five players able to take part. Note I didn't say five fit players.
Player registration is now open and those who wish to take part should contact largefez@yahoo.co.uk as soon as possible.
Orders for the rather tasty jumper you see at the top of the page will be opening soon, closing at the end of April and delivery will be hopefully in time for the annual pre-tournament get-together at Farmfez's place in Chesham on Saturday 21 June.
So get 21 June and 19 July in the diary and the tape measure out to get the right size of shirt when the order book opens.
Large, you said you wouldn't do the Director of Rugby job again! I am impressed - Never say Never!
Are you playing again this year?
I would like to put in a request for the number 42 shirt, I had 41 in 2006 and 40 in 2005!
I am hoping to last longer this year than the 1 minute 30 seconds I managed against Leeds Lardies last year before my knee collapsed due to the dear old ACL war wound.
I hope sufficient of the Arabian Knights paid tribute to Sheik Yabelhi to enable him to place the order for BAE weapons of mass distraction etc etc .......
In all seriousness, Llarge, did enough of the AK47's stump up enough wonga for the shirts to be ordered?
Don't forget to have a shirt clear out - and any other stuff for the CHARITY SECOND hand shirt stall - well we will take nearly anything so long as I can sell it.........
