NUNEATON have an ideal opportunity to assess the progress they have made in the first three weeks of the National Division Three North season when they entertain bottom side Halifax at Liberty Way tomorrow (2.00pm). Both were relegated from National Two at the end of last season, and while Nuns have opened with a win, a draw and a defeat - to early league leaders Leicester Lions - Halifax

have suffered three straight losses.

Nuns picked up a losing bonus point against Lions and the draw came last weekend at Fylde, another of the sides tipped to challenge for promotion, but head coach Mike Umaga doesn't expect his players to get ahead of themselves.

"I don't think too many people gave us a chance of getting anything at Fylde, but one thing about this group is that they won't give up," said Umaga. "The boys now know what they are capable of.

"Halifax haven't made the best of starts, but it's one of those tricky fixtures for us when we have just go to stay really focused.

"Some have been talking about complacency, but to me that doesn't come into it as we've not really done that much for it to be an issue.

"It's about doing the small things right. We know Halifax from old, we know they will be tough and it may take quite a bit of time to break them down, but we've shown we can do it and we just need to be strong mentally. We are moving in the right direction."

On-loan Leicester fly-half Rickie Aley is available again and has a challenger for the N0.10 shirt this week in summer signing Huw Jones, who is back in full training after tying up some loose ends at home in Wales.

Back five forward Matt Aston is also available again and pressing for selection along with brothers, scrum-half Lucas and back row Nathan Roy-Smith.
