FORCED to field a makeshift set of backs, Lions gave themselves an additional handicap when hooker Matt Price was red-carded for throwing a punch. Although they enjoyed some good possession in the early minutes of the game, Lions were pegged back as Craig Ratford slotted home two wind-assisted penalties and then upgraded Eddie Ambrose’s 28th-minute try.

Liam Munro trimmed the deficit to 13-5 when he touched down, but Barking added another penalty and Price’s dismissal took the wind out of Lions’ sails.
