Rugby Lions thrashed by London Scottish

THE Exiles exacted extravagant revenge for the one minor blemish on their league record with a brutal 12-try rampage. Back in November Lions produced a superb display at Webb Ellis Road to hold the runaway National Three South leaders to an 18-18 share, and there was little sign of the onslaught to come as James Hawken countered James Brown’s early penalty to make it 3-3 after 10 minutes.

But converted tries by Piotrowski and Gotting opened up a 17-3 lead midway through the first half and further efforts by Broughton, Neale and Piotrowski stretched that to 36-3 at the interval.

By that stage it was all about damage limitation – and even that ambition was squashed as the Scots maintained their assault with unforgiving efficiency.

Scottish: Tries Roman Piotrowski 2, Ben Gotting, Charles Broughton, Frank Neale, Lorne Ward, Simon Amor 2, Rory Damant 2, Stuart Peel, Charlie Jonston; conversions James Brown 7, Neale 2; penalty Brown. Rugby Lions: penalty James Hawken.
