Rugby Lions 10 Chinnor 20

By Alan Poole, Coventry Telegraph

LIONS were finally undone by a Chinnor side battling for their National League status in an open but error-strewn game. Rugby took an early lead when Jack Green completed a left-wing move, Harry Owens converting. But Chinnor then dominated possession, only errors preventing tries until Peter Wright’s converted try levelled the score on 13 minutes. Both sides created and spurned chances, leaving the interval score level.

Only a forward pass prevented Lions scoring on the re-start, Cathcart instead giving Chinnor the lead on 46 minutes with Owens replying for 10-10.

Owens missed a kick for a Lions lead before Chinnor scrum-half Toby Prescott raced home for 15-10 on the hour.

Rugby tried to fight back but an error allowed ex-Lion Trevor Powell to send in Richard Williams for the decisive score.
