Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce the signing of local player Andy McGrory. Andy was a late replacement in the Coventry team that beat Launceston at the weekend, following a number of injuries and non availability of players. Aged 24 Andy, a centre, started off his rugby career late, preferring the contact of rugby to that of football. He played for Dunlop, then had 2 years each at Nuneaton and Broad Street, he has also played for Coventry Bears RL side, and for Ireland “A” RL.

Injured pre-season Andy has been getting back to fitness, training at Coventry and playing for Rugby Lions, he recently turned out for the Coventry Nighthawks side against Moseley “A”.

Andy attended Cardinal Newman School, here in Coventry and is looking forward to being part of his successful home team.

Andy is a hard tackling centre, who prefers the counter attacking style, marked his debut for Coventry by using his power to score the first Coventry try and had a very tidy game all round.

I am chuffed to bits with this news, i have known Andy for a while and he is an honest to goodness COV lad with ambition.
