A Happy New Year to all supporters as at last we have a game of league rugby, as Coventry meet Sedgley Park in their NL1 game, here at BPA 8th January 2011 kick off 3pm. Coventry will want to put behind them their away result at Sedgley Park in their 2nd game of the season, as they lost 30-20, after leading at halftime. That time they gave speedy winger Alex Hurst too much room as he scored 2 tries.
The Tigers were founded in 1932, and under Head Coach Richard Senior, and Forwards Coach Jon Skurr, they are at present in 12th position, 2 places and 6 points behind Coventry, but with a game in hand.
Their record shows 5 wins and 7 losses, with away wins over Redruth and Macclesfield, and home wins over Coventry, Rosslyn Park, and Otley.
Their leading goal kicker is Stephen Nutt, who is 4th in the league table on 120 points.
Other players to note are experienced hooker Richard Oxley, Phil Gazzola and scrum half Simon Parrott. Ex Coventry player Louis McGowan has also had a few games on loan from Rotherham.
History shows that Sedgley Park usually give Coventry a hard game, with most results going to the home side.
Another exciting encounter is expected at BPA on Saturday as Coventry need to avenge their away defeat and start the New Year in maintaining their home form and moving up the table.
