This Saturday 2nd April, kick off 3pm, Coventry entertain league leaders and one of the title favourites London Scottish at the BPA. London Scottish were founded in 1878 four years after Coventry .Before this season, they last played Coventry, home and away in the season 1997/8, with the home side winning. The earlier meeting this season saw Scottish win 30 -15 in London.

Since the financial meltdown London Scottish went through after 1998, they reformed at the bottom of the league structure, and 6 promotions in 9 years has seen them in NL1 where they finished last season, as runners up to promoted Esher. This season they are presently in 1^st position just ahead of Barking by one point.  

Under full time Head Coach Simon Amor and backs Coach James Brown, both of course known to Coventry supporters, they have 15 full time players and a playing budget reported to be more than some Championship clubs. Not surprisingly they started the season as firm favourites for promotion. 

A blend of youth and experience, London Scottish started the season disappointingly with 3 straight losses, at home to Blackheath, Barking and a heavy away loss to Rosslyn Park.

However since then they have managed a winning streak of 21 games, including the 60pts -10 drubbing of Macclesfield last Saturday.

Fly-half player coach James Brown out recently with injury is leading point’s scorer, with the leading try scorer being wing David Howells, also missing recently.  

Other players to note are new signings flanker Lewis Calder (Exeter), Josh Brown

(Bristol), Andy Newman (Grenoble/Ospreys), Gary Trueman (Worcester) and flyhalf Lee Cholewa ex London Welsh.

A close encounter, but not short on tries is expected on Saturday with Coventry wanting to avenge their narrow defeat away to London Scottish in November, by 15-30, when only late scores denied Coventry a deserved bonus point, and London Scottish wanting to remain on course for promotion. Coventry meantime buoyant after their win at Stourbridge and a well deserved draw at Blackheath.
