Coventry  Rugby  are pleased to announce that their two principle 2nd row forwards from last season , are remaining at Coventry Rugby for the forthcoming season, helping in building squad  continuity and experience.

Andrew Weaver, who joined Coventry from Rugby Lions, has made an impressive start to his Coventry career forcing his way into the starting setup, becoming a regular performer, making 23 appearances and scoring a maiden try.

Sam Herrington a stalwart of Coventry Rugby, having joined in 2008/9 and having stopped with them throughout their troubles, at one stage led the national try scorers in NL1, eventually finishing up with 15 tries from his 28  appearances. A strong and abrasive forward, prominent in the loose, Sam is able to give extra weight and experience to the pack and able to make the hard yards across the park.

These two signings bring the Coventry Rugby squad numbers up to 15 with more still to be revealed.

Starting to feel happy now. Great to have these two back. Big Sam for me has the makings of a cov legend, a
long with young Price and Aggy he may well be the keeper of the Coventry Dog.

Well done Phil and co. the pack looks the biz, now where is that kicker???.

good to see the signings in the forwards..my worry is that the forwards werent really an issue last year...
We deperately need to strengthen the backs, particularly fly half and a proven kicker at our level or higher..

Nige..... cant agree forwards "weren't really an issue" last season. Defensively they were, as were the backs, we leaked tries all over the park.

I am pleased to see Sam and Weav's back next season, Sam is proving to be a really loyal "Cov man", many thanks to him for that.I think with him signing other players will get the message that Cov are on the up if someone like Sam "wants in".

The forwards with another season together will of course be so much better as a unit, tighter (I hope) and more experienced. The back division scored tries for fun but conceded them in equal measure, so experience is needed at key scrum half, fly half and inside centre positions to shore this up.

Could be a very interesting preseason, lets keep those signings coming.

regarding other players getting the message now that Sam has signed up, I suspect that most of the re-signings have taken place already and are just being released to the public gradually in weekly press releases. It's a bit frustrating for the more impatient supporter like myself, but I suppose it ensures a weekly Cov rugby story in the telegraph during this period.

you are correct Auntie pastie ,you may not think so but there a logic in release of names but has to be flexible as still more signings to come. there should be 2 more press releases next week.
players names are not released until contract has been returned and even signed!
