Coventry Rugby continues to build for the future with the recruitment of scrum half Nick Dangerfield from last season’s NL2 south side Canterbury. Possessing a British passport, being born in London, Nick spent his formative rugby years in Australia.

Coming over to this country mid way through last season from the GPS Old boys in Australia, Nick joined Canterbury in January. He made his mark there, scoring 1 try and 9 conversions in his 13 appearances.

Nick now has the opportunity to consolidate his positive rugby start in this country with Coventry Rugby. A speedy No 9 Nick possesses a long pass, but is versatile enough to also play fly half and inside centre. Nick should fit in well with the Coventry style of rugby.

The start of the new season’s training commences on the 5th July, with a number of trialists appearing.

There will be further press releases to complete the Coventry Rugby squad line up over the coming weeks.

Another unknown face and reputation at this level, but hopefully with the potential shown by several of last season's 'unknowns'.

doing some googling, GPS Old Boys are one of the top club sides in Queensland, playing in the Queensland Premier league. Nick appears to have been playing for a junior side playing in the Brisbane league in 2009. then was promoted to the senior side in 2010. I would say that Queensland's top club comp is a useful standard. so he sounds promising.

I hear that Cov backs were half decent last season? Only managed to get to one game and unfortunately it wasn't one where the tries flowed as they had done in many other games...

If he's up to that standard, Nick should settle in fairly quickly.
Some good support play and offloading out of the tackle in those clips, and as you say, some speedy backs. A bit like watching NL3 in that respect!

I may be missing a trick here... wouldn't be of some advantage to, as well as get unknown talent, try and get some players/squad members nearing the end of their career to give a bit of experience?

He's a scrum half. so fits the bill perfectly.

Sounds perfect to me, a grumpy, whingeing scrum half moaning at his pack and backs, getting under the skin of the opposition, firing long, fast torpedo passes out to the backs and cursing them if they drop it.

Look at any top class scrum half and they all have ebrasive traits,I can't wait to see him.

As I said before, I think we are going to like him while he wears the blue and white.
