Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that experienced flyhalf/inside centre Luke Myring, has signed for Coventry, from the Italian Super 10 side Roma Olympic.

Luke, aged 27, born in Leicester, started his rugby career at Leicester Academy, and remained there for 4 years playing in the same team as Andy Goode. Looking for more first team action he spent another 4 years at Northampton Saints, often as understudy for Carlos Spencer.

The last 3 years Luke has been playing for various Italian Super 10 sides, including Capitolina and more recently Roma Olympic. An accomplished goalkicker, Luke was instrumental in gaining the Italian Cup, in 2011, for Roma with his 5 penalties.

Luke and his young family have decided to return to England, and has turned down some full-time rugby offers to start building a career outside of rugby. He is well aware of Coventry’s past history and wants to be part of restoring its place at a much higher level.  Luke brings some much needed experience both to the backs positions and goalkicking.

Luke is working with Northampton Saints 1^st team squad and is at present gaining experience in helping the fitness and conditioning regime at the Northampton Saints.

Coventry’s Rugby Director Phil Maynard, feels that the signing of Luke Myring by Coventry Rugby opens a new chapter in the club as the club steadily builds for the future, a view mirrored by Coventry’s backs coach Peter Glackin.

Hope this signing is good for the club. This lad is still young enough to play for a good period of time. Welcome to COV Luke and family. Originating from just up the M69 Luke has moved home.

played in the prem as a youngster, so can't be bad. adds experience to the midfield and is a goalkicker. I think the squad is definitely a step up from last year. plenty of competition for places across the board. Would be nice if we can get the young Saints prop (Waller ?) to complete a very promising squad.

Looks very promising. At 27 he has plenty of experience. Goal kicking ability is a real bonus. Roll on September. Would be great if we could have a meet the players this year. Any chance Tom. Even this old fart is getting a little excited now.

Blimey, that's a good signing. Welcome Luke!
Definitely gonna have to try to get to a few more matches in the coming season. I'll stick to the tentative forecast of a top-four position come season's-end (bearing in mind I'm a proper-rubbish forecaster and don't normally bother ).
Any advance on that anyone?

Lookslike a good signing and I believe what many of us have been waiting for. A bit more experience in the middle of the park will hopefully plug some of the gaps we saw last season! And he's got ability to kick too, add that to the fact that he's working with Saints on stamina and conditioning can only be a positive for Cov. Welcome Luke looking forward to seeing the team play this season!
