Coventry Rugby begin their National League 1, 2011/2012 season at home to Cinderford this coming Saturday 27th August, kick off 3pm.

They have a great, talented and largely young new squad that has been strengthened, during this close season, in some key positions.

It would be a fitting tribute to the squad, in recognition of their efforts last season, and their dedication to a heavy training regime  during the summer, if an especially large crowd of supporters showed up for this opening game.

With the Premiership Rugby season not starting until September, this gives fans of Leicester, Northampton and Worcester, the opportunity start their season early with a visit to the Butts Park Arena.

With Coventry City away this will also give Sky Blues fans the chance to enjoy Coventry Rugby’s hospitality.

They will find the atmosphere very welcoming and give an important boost to the team, and their aspirations to progress to the Championship and beyond.

With more than a 100 tries served up last season, Coventry Rugby are looking to continue on with that open and entertaining brand of rugby.

The coaches and players are confident that this enhanced squad will make an impact on National League 1 this season, and with your help they will.

Does the population of Coventry and Warwickshire known, Coventry Rugby union start a NEW exciting season.

Could CET put it on the Front page.

Come on Cov. Really wish I could be there. I'll be in Devon next week, so will be travelling back on the day we play at Wharfedale - I'm so gutted as I don't get to see Cov often these days, and Wharfedale is the easiest trip for me . Ah well, roll on the visits to Sedgley Park and Fylde.

Also all best wishes to Coventry for the new season - impressed with additions to last year's promising squad.

I believe Nighthawks game v Rugby is on 31 August - Wednesday.

With Leicester,Northampton,Worcester not playing and the Sky Blues playing away could we not offer half price admission on production of their season tickets.The more people we get through the gates and using the bars the better.

I guess the question is whether the number of Premiership supporters who would be attracted would double if our ticket price to them was halved?

As our tickets are about half their price anyway (*) would halving it again make any significant difference to the numbers who attend?

(*)Cheapest adult seating at Leicester £24.

Covkid we did play Cinderford early last year and score was 55-5, however when we played at their place they beat us 26-0 worst performance by a Cov side I've ever seen!! Cinderford have signed quite a few players for the new season and are clearly looking to improve on last season. They sent a scouting party to the Doncaster game, apparently all paid for the by the club! Lets hope we can get off to a winning start, but don't expect Cinderford to be a push over like last year.

Bearing in mind 5 coaches of rugby fans go out of the city when premiership rugby is being played (this is true as Coachleasing takes them) if the club only gets 20 or 30 new people through the gates and using the bar it must be at least considering

how can extra money coming in/extra spectators be losing money, reference other teams. plus money spent in ground. a very good idea i thought.
