Jamie Miller expresses determination to bounce back...

COVENTRY captain Jamie Miller has revealed his team’s determination to make up for their harrowing non-performance at Wharfedale.

The powerful back-rower admitted the Blue and Whites owe their followers a display after sacrificing a ten-point lead to lose their first away match of the season 31-10.

And they are targeting Saturday’s showdown with winless Stourbridge as the ideal opportunity to set the record straight as they go in search of a second successive home victory.

“It’s a local derby and it’s a big difference playing at Wharfedale, so far away from your fan base, and playing in front of your own supporters,” the former Bristol man said.

“Our fans will expect a performance, we know that. After the game on Saturday everybody was thinking about putting it right against Stourbridge.

“A lot of the boys are very keen to do just that.”

They will have to retain possession better than they did last time out though.

Andy Murray’s 15th-minute try was about the last time Cov featured as an attacking force on Saturday as they gifted the Yorkshire outfit an endless supply of possession.

“We started really well, we scored a good try and dominated their scrum,” Miller said. But from then on we just could not keep hold of the ball.

“Our defence was outstanding in terms of the work rate and scramble but you just can’t win a game of rugby without the ball.

“There’s only so much defending you can do before you break down.”Ball retention was also an issue in the first game of the season in which Coventry defeated Cinderford through clinical finishing and spirited defending.”
