Week 7 results round up with week 8 fixtures 15th October previews including Tynedale v Coventry.

Round up week 7 results 8th October

Only three away wins this week but what wins they were! With Fylde, Macclesfield andCoventryall losing their unbeaten home records.  Pride of place must go to Barking whose away win at Fylde, playing most of the match one man short, once again proved how tough this league is turning out to be. Macclesfield suffered 3 yellow cards helping Tynedale to their away victory, and giving them confidence for their forthcoming hosting ofCoventry. 

Coventry lost their home record to a controversial over time try by Cambridge. Ealing Tfs still remain the only unbeaten side, perhaps mirroring Barking’s exploits last season, but had to struggle to beat a resilient Stourbridge by only 7 points.

Locally Birmingham Solihull continued their good try scoring form with a bonus point win over a hard working Blaydon side.

Tynedale replace Coventry in 4th place in the league, whilst Coventry fall to 7th with just two points difference between Tynedale and  Sedgley Park in 10th place.

Week 8 fixtures 15th October  with previews

Macclesfield    v    RosslynPark

SedgleyPark    v    Ealing Tfs

Once again some more close games expected this week. League leaders Ealing Tfs can’t afford to take their visit to high scoring but inconsistentSedgleyPark  too lightly, although they do seem to be able to pick up wins without being on top of their game.

Fylde in 3rd place face a difficult away trip to 4th place Cambridge, buoyant after their last minute win over Coventry.

Macclesfield , who surprisingly lost at home to Tynedale face another tricky home game with Rosslyn Park. Basement club Wharfedale face a possible relegation battle with Cinderford, whilst Stourbridge, having run Ealing so close, faceJerseyat home, who are still smarting from having been deducted 5 points for fielding an ineligible player.

 

Tynedale v Coventry preview

This Saturday 15th October, Coventry face the long trek north to face Tynedale at their picturesque Corbridge ground. Please note that kick off is14.30 pm.

Last week’s results saw Coventry back in 7th place whilst Tynedale, after their surprise win away at Macclesfield replace Coventry in 4th spot.

Tynedale founded in 1876 finished a creditable 5th last season .This season under coaches Tom Borthwick and Ian Peel; they have a very similar record to that of Coventry with 4 wins and 3 losses. LikeCoventrythey have had a narrow win away at Barking, as well as a narrow home defeat byCambridge.

In one of the shocks of last weekend they lowered 2nd placed Macclesfield home colours with a 29-5 victory.

Last season a virtually new Coventry squad faced Tynedale in the first and last games of the season .In high scoring games the results went with the home side, with Coventry losing away 20-45 but winning the return 56-29.

Key players to note are the DR duo from Premiership side Newcastle Falcons, lock Richard Boyle and flyhalf Joel Hodgson. Other players to note are scrum half Matty Outson, flanker Grant Beasley, back row Myles Scott (Westoe), and prop duo Jonny Williams and Dave Dickinson.

Always difficult to beat on home soil Tynedale will be buoyant after their away win at Macclesfield, whilst Coventry  will  be wanting to put behind them the disappointment of their last minute defeat at home against Cambridge.

Another exciting and close match is expected between these two well matched sides.
