Myring: We'll be working on discipline before Ealing clash.

IT WAS a disappointing end to a good week at Coventry Rugby Club.Last Thursday the club hosted one of its sportsman’s dinners which was a huge success and again highlighted the fantastic support around the club.
Two hundred gentlemen attended the evening which included a meal, auctions, a comedian, a few beers and the 37-timed capped guest speaker Jeff Probyn.
Jeff spoke brilliantly and told some old stories from his playing days which made me realise that nothing much has changed much in the years since he was playing and we will probably be telling very similar stories long after we have retired too!
At the end he took some questions and he spoke about the current situation within the England set-up. I think that now Martin Johnson has stepped down from his role, the ideal, and for me the only, candidate is Jim Mallinder of Northampton.
There has been a lot of talk this week about him becoming the manger of the England team but there have also been mentions for Jake White, Graham Henry and numerous others.
Truthfully we don’t know what the heads at the RFU are thinking as it is all speculation but I just hope that they appoint an English manager.
We already have too many foreign players in the England set-up; let’s not have a foreign manager too.
Mallinder and Dorian West have done an incredible job at Northampton and with the England Saxons before that.
