At the other end of the table further defeats by Bham Solihull and Barking, leave them further adrift at the bottom of the table, whilst Stourbridge’s 2nd win on the trot over Cambridge puts more pressure on Cinderford and Wharfedale just above them.
Rosslyn Park go into 2nd place after a close and hard fought win 34-30 over Blaydon.
Week 16 fixtures 10th December
BIRMINGHAM SOLIHULL V JERSEY
BLACKHEATH V EALING TFS
CAMBRIDGE V BLAYDON
COVENTRY V WHARFEDALE
FYLDE V CINDERFORD
MACCLESFIELD V STOURBRIDGE
ROSSLYN PARK V BARKING
TYNEDALE V SEDGLEY PARK
On the face of the it 3 of the top 4 sides in the league Rosslyn Park, Fylde, and Jersey, all face relatively easy matches with Barking, Cinderford, and Bham Solihull, respectively. However the improving Blackheath, especially at home, must fancy their chances at home to league leaders London rivals Ealing Tfs.
At the bottom off the league Bham Solihull and Barking having to face Jersey and Rosslyn Park are not expected to get anything from these matches. Despite having won 2 games on the trot, Stourbridge face a difficult visit to Macclesfield, now getting back on track and up to 6th place.
Coventry face Wharfedale, who are looking for their 1st double of the season, whilst Coventry will be looking to put behind them their defeat in Jersey
Coventry Rugby v Wharfedale preview
This Saturday 10th December at the Butts Park Arena sees Coventry Rugby meet Wharfedale, with the kick off at 3 pm.
Wharfedale founded in 1923, finished last season in 13th position, and are currently in 12th, just 7 points ahead of the relegation zone. Coventry travelled to Wharfedale in their 2nd game of the season, losing 31-10 after leading by 10 points within 10 minutes. Coventry will be looking to avenge this defeat as well as stopping Wharfedale from completing a double over them.
Under Head Coach Tom McGee, Wharfedale having recently lost 4 games in a row are now finding some form, having defeated Barking, Cambridge and last week a 6 try thrashing over Tynedale 39-5 in their last three games.
Wharfedale have a strong pack with an impressive back row of Rob Baldwin, James Holland, Aaron Myers and Dan Solomi. They have an effective mauling and pick up and drive game. Other players to note are hooker Steve Graham and goalkicking centre Tom Davidson.
Coventry cannot afford to take this game too lightly, as they look to bounce back from the away loss at Jersey, and needing a win to keep pressure on those teams above them.
The game on Saturday will also be a landmark for Ben Russell as he goes for his 150 th game for Coventry Rugby.
Once again kick off at the BPA is at 3pm.
