Week 18 previews 7th January 2012.

Birmingham Solihull     v    Wharfedale

Blackheath                      v    Cinderford

Coventry                          v    Sedgley Park

Ealing Tfs                        v    Jersey

Fylde                                v    Stourbridge

Macclesfield                    v    Blaydon

Rosslyn Park                   v    Cambridge

Tynedale                          v    Barking

With only 4 points covering the top 4 places in the league, it is everything to play for as Ealing Tfs (1st) are at home to Jersey (2nd). The form team of the league is currently Jersey going for their 12th win on the trot, and looking for revenge as Ealing took their home record away earlier in the season by 26-15. Ealing on the other hand, after being the early pacesetters, have now only won once in their last five games.

Rosslyn Park in 3rd and Fylde in 4th are both waiting in the wings for any slip up, both with tricky but winnable home games.

The bottom of the league sees only Birmingham Solihull with a home fixture, but they face a buoyant Wharfedale who have now won 5 games in a row.

With Barking away at Tynedale and Stourbridge at Fylde, and both bottom sides not expected to win, Cinderford also looking over their shoulder in 13th place, face a difficult tie away at Blackheath.

This week sees a series of games which will not settle who is favourite for promotion, but may well provide a definite pointer in the relegation dogfight.

Coventry Rugby v Sedgley Park  match  preview

Saturday 7th January sees Coventry Rugby return to home action as they face Sedgley Park, here at the Butts Park Arena, kick off 3pm.

Coventry will be looking to put behind them the disappointment of losing their last three games on the trot , which is also their poorest run of the season, and will be wanting to complete their first double of the season , after an excellent away win by 18-12 earlier in the season.

Sedgley Park under Head Coach Richard Senior and Dave Peet, are currently in 10th place, just two places and 4 points behind Coventry, after finishing 11th last season.

Park have struggled to find consistency in their results this season and come to Coventry after two straight losses to Tynedale and Macclesfield.

Two former Coventry players are in the Sedgley Park pack, Henno Venter and Louis McGowan, so the Coventry pack can expect a combative afternoon.

Players to note are the half back pairing of Chris and Simon Parrott, who caused Coventry problems in the away fixture, as well as winger Jamie Harrison and centre Fergus Owens.

Another crucial and close game is expected at the BPA, Saturday 7th January, kick off 3pm with both sides needing the win to move them away from the bottom half of the league table.
