Herrington challenges Coventry to rediscover top five form.

SAM Herrington has set Coventry a top-five target ahead of the resumption of their National One campaign.

The powerful lock, who forced his way back into the side just before the Christmas break, believes the Blue and Whites are capable of challenging the best teams in the division between now and the end of the season.

And he says they must begin proving that at home to Sedgley Park on Saturday, when Coventry will be looking to end a run of three straight losses as injuries and a lack of experience took their toll on Phil Maynard’s squad before the break.

But they have had nearly three weeks off and Herrington says Cov are raring to go this weekend.

“We feel we could be in a better position,” the second row admitted. “We lost three on the spin and although we had a decent start to the season, the boys feel they have let themselves down of late a little bit.

“We weren’t happy with the performances, we made far too many mistakes, everyone from one-15 was doing it and at costly times, when we were in the final third.

“But we’ve had a good talk about that during the break, we know how important it is to come away with something after we have been on the attack and we are all determined to set the record straight.”

For sure, the guys need to play a solid 80 minutes of committed rugby. With a few of the injuries clearing up hopefully we can field a team that can compete.

Our lack of depth has been painfully exposed.

Time to stand up and be counted......

C'mon Cov........
