IT WAS another big performance from our boys at the weekend against high flying Rosslyn Park away. We backed up our outstanding draw away from home the week before against Blaydon with another probably more impressive 19-19 draw away.
We started the game a little sluggishly again and found ourselves 12-0 down going into the break. With a hill to climb, which with only 15 minutes to go seemed a like mountain at 19-5, the guys showed incredible resolve and determination to fight back into the game and steal a draw at the death.
After the game, as it was last week, the overriding feeling among the boys was disappointment, which again shows the ambition and the strength within our squad.
For me, four points from the last two very difficult away games is a great achievement and although as a rugby player you obviously want to win – and believe you can win – every game, in hindsight if you had offered two away draws from these games two weeks ago we would have probably said thank you very much!
Although it hurts me to say it as I am a proud back and I wouldn’t tell Aggy, special mention has to go to our forwards again this week. Our scrum was again outstanding and in the end was the catalyst for the victory and not for the first time this season either.
The introduction of the Saints guys into our scrum has been brilliant for us and I think highly beneficial to them. I’ve been through the academy at Leicester and in my day we had under-19s and under-21s leagues as well as second-team matches so I was playing every week.
