Phil Maynard glad to be back home at Coventry.

COVENTRY run out at the Butts Park Arena for the first time in seven weeks tomorrow when they entertain high-flying Fylde.

And they aim to return in style after a run of away games capped by battling draws at Blaydon and Rosslyn Park in the last two weeks when, on both occasions, Cov clawed back two-score deficits to finish on top and feeling that they should have won.

“We’re looking forward to getting back in front of our own fans,” said rugby director Phil Maynard. “It’s been a long time.

“We’ve had two tremendous ‘roll your sleeves up’ performances in the past two weeks to take points from difficult away games, and now we want to take that forward and welcome back our supporters the right way .”

Cov are also out to avenge a 45-10 defeat at Fylde – currently third in the National League One table with Cov 13th – four months when the pack had the upper hand but the home side’s power at the breakdown and pace outside proved decisive.

“We know they are a very dangerous attacking side and have threatening runners all over the place,” said Maynard. “They scored eight tries against Macclesfield last week and if you let them play the way they want to, you will be in trouble.

“We have to make sure that we don’t hide behind rucks and leave defenders isolated, and our first-up tackling has to be spot on.
