Result of Round 13 is surely leaders Rosslyn Park losing for the first time in 10 matches as Wharfedale beat them at home.  Wharfedale can never be underestimated at home, and they came from behind at half time to fully utilise the elements to their advantage.

Rosslyn Park’s place at the top was taken by Ealing Tfs, who gave Loughborough Students a lesson both in finishing and teamwork. A further two tries by new signing no 8 Sam Shires, proved how influential he has become to Ealing’s surge to the top.

The expected banker of the week turned out to be so, as Blaydon continued in 3rd place after a bonus point win over bottom side Cambridge, now on a relegation series of 7 losse . Blaydon’s profitable links both on and off the field to former Premiership side Newcastle Falcons is reaping benefits as Blaydon punch above their weight and could challenge for promotion if they can keep hold of their local players.

Esher stay in 4th spot after another bonus point victory over relegation zone Macclesfield. Once again the power of the Esher pack proved decisive, as MOM No 8 Jack Clifford endorsed his growing reputation. Esher will be looking to put pressure on the three sides above them, as they go for automatic promotion back to the Championship.

The remaining side in the bottom three Sedgley Park, despite a much improved performance  which netted them a try bonus point, still could not stop Cinderford winning away, a win that gets Cinderford back onto winning ways and keeps them in 6th place.

In 5th place Old Albanians had a hard fought battle to beat Coventry Rugby, whose away travails continue. In the end it was the home side that was able to take advantage of a yellow card, whilst Coventry weren’t. A win that keeps OA in 5th and drops Coventry to 10th.

Fylde stay in 7th after another comprehensive home win over Richmond. Once again Fylde got their off-loading and counter attacking game on song with 7 tries, helping to remove the pain of last week’s loss to Tynedale.

Blackheath go up to 8th place after their first win in 4 games with a hard fought win over Tynedale. Another game which was affected by the weather and a heavy pitch, once again a late Dave Allen try proved match winning, but Tynedale did deserve their losing bonus point.

Despite Rosslyn Park losing their lead, the top 4 slightly increase their lead over the chasing group. The bottom three are still as much isolated although losses for Tynedale and Loughborough Students could put them in danger if any of the bottom three can start to put a winning run together.

There will be no match preview this week as National League 1 takes a one week break.

The next series of games Round 14 will take place on Saturday 8th December so it will be the week after next that the usual full preview together with a detailed preview of Coventry Rugby v Blaydon will appear.
